Thinking about fostering - what is fostering?

What is fostering?

Fostering is looking after babies, children or young people who are in need of a safe, stable family environment.

As a foster carer, you will have an opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of children. We will provide you with all the support needed to build a brighter future for children and young people across Stoke-on-Trent.

There really is no typical foster carer. Anyone can come forward and make such a big difference in a child’s life regardless of age, gender, religious or cultural background, sexual orientation or if you are married, single or divorced. If you feel that you are ready to open your home and heart to a child, fostering could be a fantastic career choice for you.

At Stoke-on-Trent City Council, children are our number one priority. We are committed to supporting vulnerable children and we want to ensure that we give all our children and young people in care the best possible start. By fostering a child in the City, you can help us to do that.
