Specialist Foster Carers Wanted - Pause and Reflect Foster Carers
Pause and Reflect Foster Carers
What is Pause and Reflect Fostering?
Pause and Reflect (PAR) fostering provides short-term, stable homes for up to 28 days for children and young people. This crucial period allows for comprehensive assessment and planning of their longer-term care needs. It's often the first step into foster care for many children, or a vital bridge when a mainstream foster home isn't immediately available.
PAR placements can happen at very short notice, sometimes with limited information about the child. Children entering PAR care can be of any age and may have experienced trauma, presenting with a range of complex needs and challenging behaviours.

What we're looking for:
We're searching for compassionate individuals with a genuine desire to make a difference. Ideal PAR foster carers will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people, especially those who have experienced trauma or exhibit high-risk behaviours.
- Full-time availability (24/7), including during times of crisis or transition.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work therapeutically and collaboratively with multi-agency teams.
- A willingness to engage in ongoing therapeutic training and reflective practice.
- Resilience, flexibility, and a passion for placement stability.
What we offer:
As a PAR foster carer, you'll receive comprehensive support and benefits, including:
- Competitive weekly professional fees (up to 52 weeks/year).
- Age-related maintenance allowance.
- After 56 days of PAR arrangements, carers receive a paid 14-day break before becoming available for further placements.
- Specialist therapeutic training and support.
- Keyworker and peer support groups.
- Enhanced supervision and multi-agency coordination.
If you're compassionate, enjoy helping others, and possess the transferable skills needed to be a specialist PAR foster carer, we would love to hear from you.
