Kinship Foster Carers - Message from a supervising social worker
Thank you to all kinship foster carers
Kirsty supervising social worker:
Every day, we see the incredible difference Kinship Carers make to the lives of children across Stoke-on-Trent. By stepping forward to care for children, they help children remain connected to the people, places and relationships that are important to them and key to their identity.
Our Kinship Carers are remarkable. Many have reshaped their lives to put children's needs first, providing love, security and stability when it is needed most. They are passionate advocates for the children they care for, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests remain at the centre of decisions. Their supportive and therapeutic approach helps children feel safe and valued, giving them the confidence to thrive and reach their potential.
The impact of kinship care is life-changing. Our carers create opportunities for children to flourish and achieve things that may otherwise never have been possible. They give children far more than a place to live, they give them love, stability and belonging.
Aimee supervising social worker:
The hard work, dedication and commitment I see from kinship carers is truly inspiring. Caring for a child within the family can be at times difficult and unexpected but seeing the hard work, stability and love they provide is incredible.
Kinship care allows children to stay connected to their family, maintain relationships and promote their identity. When children are unable to live with their parents, being cared for by a family member provides that comfort and familiarity in what is a very difficult time for children.
It is wonderful to see the positive impact that kinship care makes to a child. The love and patience my carers demonstrate can make such a difference to how a child feels about themselves and their future. Seeing a child develop in this environment is so rewarding and shows the difference kinship carers can make. They should be incredibly proud of themselves and everything they have done to support the child/children in their care!!
Eleanor supervising social worker:
