Manager's blog
Hi everyone, firstly I hope everyone is getting into the festive spirits and is looking forward to the upcoming celebrations. I would like to start with introducing myself to everyone given I am fairly new to the post I joined the fostering team in July this year. Some of you will know me from the past when I was a social worker here at Stoke in 2007 where I predominantly worked in the Children in Care Team. In 2013 I left Stoke on Trent City Council to work in Australia in both their safeguarding and children in care teams. I returned home to the UK in 2019, I then started to work for Stoke Council again as a manager in 2020. Since joining the fostering team its been an exciting time as we move forward there are lots of exciting projects being explored to improve our service. We really want to help make positive changes for everyone.
I recently attended the Halloween party which was wonderfully organised by the FCA and I was able to catch up with foster carers old and new. I felt very privileged that I was able to do this and I would really like to recognise all of your hard work and thank you all as foster carers. It really is the hardest role in social care. Thank you to the FCA for organising such a lovely event.
I hope to see many of you at the Fostering Jingle on 11th December at Kings Hall between 11:30-14:00, this will be a great event where foster carers and teams across Children’s Social Care come together. I hear the festive bake off is great fun, I cannot wait to see what goodies are baked!
Lets not forget the upcoming FCA Christmas Party on 7th December, I really look forward to seeing as many of you at the party please contact Sue Yeo if you would like to join us at the Christmas Party.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a good break over the Christmas period with the children in your care and your families please take time to enjoy the festive season.
